As many of you know, Edgbaston High School is marking a truly remarkable milestone, our 150th year! And what better way to kick things off than with a world record attempt, some serious dance moves and a giant aerial photo! 

Yesterday, we launched our celebrations in spectacular style. After a sizzling summer BBQ, over 800 students and staff took to the Astro to dance their hearts out to SoFunk, led by the fabulous Sharon Brown (of Sharon Brown Fitness), in an attempt to set a world record for the most people dancing to SoFunk at once! We’ll find out in the new academic year if we’ve made history, but either way, the energy and community spirit were unforgettable. 

Then came a moment to remember: our entire school formed a giant “150” on the playing fields, captured from above by drone. The photo is already an iconic snapshot of a year that’s set to be full of joy, pride, and celebration. 

And we’re only just getting started. In the new academic year, you can look forward to EDGfest, our very own festival bursting with performances, artistic flair, delicious food, and House competitions, a vibrant celebration of EHS’s past, present, and future. There’ll also be a Birthday Bash in November (tickets coming soon!), special Laurels events, commemorative assemblies and brooches, a 150 Years of Excellence Award, and our ‘150 Years of Service’ Give Back initiative. 

It’s going to be a year to remember and we can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
